A dive master allows others to dive underwater. This is done by leading organised and recreational dives. Dive master is the standard level for those who are responsible for guiding or supervising divers. Not everyone can become a dive master. Dive master job description
What is the job of a divemaster? It involves many duties such as assessing the risk of diving, supervising customer divers, giving briefings and leading groups through a diver's dive. A job description for a divemaster can be more diverse. A dive master may be responsible for several different aspects of a dive shop, including the general operation and social media presence.
Diving instructors instruct and supervise scuba techniques, whether in open water or in swimming pools. They can also organize and supervise activities other than training such as navigation. Open water instructors lead students through the tour portion of dives. This includes the navigation exercise as well as the surface swim portion. A dive instructor's job may include the supervision of certified divers during a scuba certification course. The legal responsibility of dive instructors varies from country to country. However, in some countries, the diving instructor is exempt from legal responsibility when the dive instructor signs a waiver.
Certification requirements
A course is required to become a competent Divemaster. The Divemaster course covers everything you need to know about managing divers, setting up dive sites, managing diver flows and finding the right flow for diving. The minimum number of dives candidates need to have completed must be at least 60. Divemasters can assist novice divers with theory and skills, as well as assisting instructors during dive courses.
Dive masters must not only take courses but also pass a 2-part exam. Candidates must score at minimum 75% in each section to pass the exam. Candidates will be using the PADI Instructor Handbook and the eRDPML for the exam. Students must also prepare an emergency aid plan and do five waterskills exercises. The combined scores must be at least fifteen. Divemasters must be certified after completing the course.
Internship requirement
There are many internships available to help you become a divemaster. You can either assist with PADI Courses or help to set up dive spots, depending on your preference. Your assistance may be needed for skill circuits. There will be a consistent pattern to your internship. An internship typically lasts for eight weeks. You may also become an Advanced Open Water Diver during this time. After four to 6 weeks of training you can become an Advanced Open Water Diver or Divemaster.
A Divemaster may offer a free internship in lieu of the paid ones. Even though free internships may not be ideal, they will allow you to get valuable advice and study from a Divemaster. In some cases, your internship might include manuals, certifications, or equipment. Before you enroll in any Divemaster course, it is important to be familiar with the requirements.
