Field trips for aquariums

For students in pre-K through highschool, aquariums offer educational programs. These programs provide hands-on learning, science investigations, structured laboratory activities, and animal encounters. These programs are taught by Aquarium experts, and they support Next Generation Science Standards. These programs also offer teacher resources. You can also take an online course or watch a live presentation.

The National Aquarium of the United States is a leading aquarium. It is committed to protecting marine life as well as human communities. Students can take a tour of non-public areas and take part in narrated feedings. The Aquarium also provides free online classes for teachers and offers resources such as printable art and crafts. Zoom technology is also available to students who wish to take a virtual trip of the Great Wall of China.

Teachers are also eligible for a free orientation. It takes approximately 60 minutes to complete and includes a brief overview of the National Aquarium's education programs. Instructors will learn to safely use the equipment, regulators, masks, and how air-share works. They will also learn all about the marine life, and how equipment care is important. After completing their orientation, students can visit the aquarium and participate in an educational program.

Learning activities at the pool

Rangers not only learn to dive but also learn navigation and basic underwater searching techniques. To find underwater treasures, they also learn to use a compass and grid. These skills can be practiced by the Rangers in the pool. After mastering each skill, they will be able to swim a mile with their snorkel, fins and mask. Rangers learn how first aid works and how to identify signs of stress and trouble while diving.

The first learning activity is to perform a front flip or a back flip under water, without depleting themselves. Another activity requires that candidates grab a mask from the bottom of the pool and do five underwater bobs. To fail to complete a full bob, you will need to drop the mask or break the restraints.
